Mangalore, May 6: Ponnuraj, commissioner of the survey department said that urban property ownership project has received good response in city compared to other city if the state. The property owners under the project will be issued with an urban owner property card, which will be connected to the Bhoomi and Cauvery project.
Speaking at the press meet held at DC office on May 5, Monday, he said that the card which will be issued to the owners will be a authentic property ownership document, which will have the details of property liabilities, sketch, map, boundary, and type of ownership.
He also said that the card will the authentic document to sell and purchase property and will be in a form of seven pages booklet.
The card will be made mandatory in the urban areas, in place of ‘khatas’ and RTC, since this reduce property disputes and check property tax evasion and will also avoid malpractices. In the coming days, no registration of property will be done in the urban areas without production of the property card. Around 55 percent of work on the urban property ownership project has been completed, he added.
Ponnuraj also said that, in order to resolve property disputes and defects in the RTC in rural areas, the ‘Kandaya Adalath’ will also be started.
