Mangalore’s expert advocate Purushottam Poojary no more

Mangalore, May 6: Purushottam Poojary, noted advocate passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest in his residence here on Tuesday May 6.

It was learnt that he suddenly collapsed on Tuesday morning when he went for a bath after his breakfast. He was 93 years old and a diabetic.

Purushottam Poojary was a senior criminal lawyer who had handled several important cases and was also an activist who fought for justice especially for the cause of the legal fraternity. He was in the front position in the fight for justice in the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji, who was his junior. He was also the defense counsel in the sensational Manipal gang-rape case.

Purushottam has also taken up cases which many other advocates hesitant from taking up.
