Mangalore, May 6: Bunder police have registered a case against labour leader Sudatta Jain, and renowned high court advocate, P P Hegde for collecting mobile call details of Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and defaming him in front of the media and social networking site during the time of election.

It is learnt that, during the election, Sudatta Jain had called a press conference to state that Nalin Kumar Kateel had spoken to a lady over the phone for several hours every day, in turn Kateel had filed a complaint, in this regard with the city police commissioner on April 17.

As per the complaint filed, police commissioner had asked the cell phone service provider for giving a call detail of a client to the third parties without authorization and also lodged complaint against the duo.

Nalin Kumar in his complaint also stated that Sudatta Jain, an independent candidate in the recent Lok Sabha election and P P Hegde, had illegally obtained call details relating to his cell phone from Bharti Airtel. The duo had also posted a photograph of a girl with the blurred face and stated that he had sexually exploited her by assuring her to provide with the government job.

The police have registered the case in this regard under different provisions of Information Technology Act.
