Sullia, May 1: With an attempt to murder, a youth named Siddique had stabbed a woman Congress leader from Sullia and her husband on April 30, Wednesday.
The victims are identified as Congress leader Waheeda Ismail and her husband Ismail, who have been taking treatment at a hospital in Mangalore, after providing them with an initial treatment in a local hospital.
The couple are said to be severely injured and are in critical condition.
The accused Siddique runs a hotel in Goa and hails from Bellare. It is said both Siddique and Ismail who were close friends had turned enemies over land dispute.
