Residents of Kodi, Kotepura withdraw decision to boycott election: U T Khader

Mangalore, April 15: State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader have succeeded in convincing the residents of Kodi, Kotepura and Mogaveerapatna to cast their vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, who earlier threatened to boycott the elections.

Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on April 14, Monday, Abdul Rehman, President of a Committee of residents, said that the residents of these areas who had threatened to boycott the election during the recent clashes in Ullal, demanding to free release the innocents, have taken back the decision to boycott the polling following an assurance given by Khader.

He also said that further the committee will continue to pressurize the government to release innocents through local elected representatives. The police had arrested 69 persons, out of which 47 belong to Kodi area and demand to release them.

Khader also assured the committee to discuss the issue with Home Minister and free the innocents.
