`Gunashree Nirbhaya Run’ to Create Awareness on Women’s Security on March 9

Mangalore : In view of expressing concern and creating awareness on Women’s security issues the students of Department of MBA at National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in association with Centre for Integrated Learning(CIL), a city based NGO and youth portal www.youthania.com will be organising `Gunashree Nirbhaya Run’ in the city on March 9. The run traversing through the city will also mark the Women’s Day observance (March 8) and reassure that youth are going to lead the way to initiate action in redressing the burning issue that is making news throughout the country.

The Run assumes significance as it is being organised by three organisations all working in the field of youth empowerment. While the youth of MBA of NITK are taking the lead, the event is supported by CIL which is actively involved in grooming the young to transform themselves into effective citizenry. www.youthania.com is a ready to launch youth web portal which will cater to the needs of youth in different spheres of activities.

Nirbhaya Run will be a competitive event for the students of all colleges in the city with attractive prizes as incentive along with the awareness being created on the issue. It will be flagged off by Indian Olympian athlete Vandana Shanbogue at the Mangala Stadium in the city at 8 am on March 9. The participants will run along Ladyhill Junction, KSRTC Bus Stand, Kadri Kambla Road, CV Nayak Hall, Bunts Hostel, PVS Junction, MG Road and culminate at Mangala Stadium.

Women achievers who have contributed their mite in different fields of social activities will be felicitated during the valedictory session of the event. The event is sponsored by Gunashree Cashew and powered by Fun Fit Factory as the co-sponsors.
