Puttur, Feb 8: In connection with the misuse of documents by Uppinangady police for obtaining a SIM card for personal use, few miscreants have set fire to a shop selling mobile SIM cards was gutted in fire on February 6, Thursday.
The shop named Balaji, run by Srikanth from Gujarat was located at Bank road in Uppinangady.
The watchman who noticed the fire which erupted on Thursday night registered a complaint at the local police station.
Few locals opine that the fire mishap may be the ploy to mislead the case against the policeman and the shop owner, since the fire was fire was set at night. They also said that the Uppinangady police shown who were showing reluctant in filing cases have immediately registered the case of fire mishap, leading to suspicion. Even the shop owner Srikanth was not present in the town during the fire incident.
It is recalled that, Shabeer, a resident near Uppinangady Math, had filed a complaint with the IGP (Western Range) against constable Laxmeesha of Uppinangady police station for allegedly obtained a SIM card for his personal use from Srikanth’s shop.
