Kudtamugeru: Unsuccessful attempt to loot the cooperative bank

Bantwal, September 2: The thieves were made an unsuccessful attempt to loot an agriculture cooperative bank of Kudtamugeru branch, by passing through window in Kolnad here on Monday September 2.

After entering the bank, the thieves were tried to open the locker with a gas cutter, but escaped after being unsuccessful in their attempt and gas cylinders, cutter, torch lights and other tools were found inside the bank.

Vittal police, Bantwal circle inspector, finger print experts and dog squad arrived at the spot.  Investigation is under progress.

The bank staff informed that the Vittal Padnoor Agricultural Cooperative Bank branch has gold ornaments worth over Rs two crore in its lockers and 2lakh cash.  As the thieves failed in their attempt, the cash and valuables remained safe.

No proper security: ‘The bank has failed to provide the proper security for jewellers and cash’, customers expressed their anguish. The bank doesn’t have CCTV camera system, siren and there is no watchman. It suspected that after knowing the situation the robbers might have tried to steal the bank. When bank staff entered to duty at 9.30, he came to understand the theft attempt and suspected that the thieves might try on Saturday night or Sunday night.
 
When customers heard the news about waste attempt of stealing, they were assembled in front of the bank.  But they heaved sighs of relief only after checking that the valuables were safe.
 
Bantwal circle inspector Anil S Kulkarni, Vittal inspector Madhavakudlu and staff inspected the place.  A case has been registered in the Vittal police station.
