Puttur, August 27: Due to rots problem areca nut growers faced 80 to 90 percent of loss. Hence, to control such problem, government must provide the protection to growers, otherwise we will stage the protest against the government, said former C.M Sadananda Gowda.
He was speaking after visiting the Bellippadi Jinnappa poojary and Mohana pakala’s garden to check the problem; he said that if government does not support the farmers, then they will committee suicide. As solution to the problem government must implement the special package, waiving of long term loan and facility of special loan system and regarding the matter we will request the chief minister, he said.
He urged that government must move to control the rots problem during the rainy season. If Vittla’s research centre officials did not find the solution within 3 month, we will lock the research centre and will stage the protest, he warned.
Former minister Nagaraj Shetty, BJP leader Sanjeeva Matandoor, Gopalakrishna Herala, Saaja radhakrishna Alwa, Chandrashekara Bappalige, Jayananda and R.C Narayana were present.
