Mangaluru, December 14: Four persons who arrived in Bolero vehicle, introduced themselves as police and have reportedly burgled Rs 24.95 lakhs from a man who visited the city. The incident is said to have taken place under Mangaluru rural police jurisdiction.
A person named Zubair lost the amount to the burglars.
Zubair has filed a complaint with the Mangaluru rural police in this regard.
It is gathered that Zubair had arrived from Mumbai to Mangaluru and was walking near Kankanady railway junction to board a city bus. Meanwhile, four persons arrived in a white Bolero vehicle and introduced themselves as police. They showed their identity card and questioned Zubair that what was inside his bag, it is said.
It is said that, later they told Zubair to sit inside their car. Zubair got frightened by this, and refused to sit inside the car. He was then forcibly pushed inside the car. Later, the miscreants snatched away his mobile phone and bag and pushed him out of the car at Maripalla and sped away, it is learnt.
The police have registered a case and investigations are on.
