Two brother’s expire after truck collides to bike, angry locals stage flash protest

Bantwal, December 2: Two brothers were killed after a sand-laden truck collided to their bike on national highway at Sattikallu near Gadiyar on Wednesday December 2nd.

Ashik (26) and his brother Shafique (23), sons of Puttaka, residents of Kalladka are the deceased.

It is said that in a bid to overtake, a sand-laden truck came on the wrong side and collided to the bike in which the two brothers were travelling. At the time of accident, the bike was moving from Uppinangady to Mangaluru while the truck was plying from Mangaluru to Bengaluru.

Soon after the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot.

Following the accident, the angry locals began stopping all sand-laden lorries on the highway and staged a flash protest and demanded that the DC or tahsildar visit the spot, it is learnt.

It is learnt that Ashik was engaged and his wedding was scheduled to take place soon. He was employed in the Gulf.

The father of the brother’s- Puttaka is a fisherman.

The bodies were taken to Bantwal government hospital.

A case has been registered by Puttur traffic police.
