Mangaluru, November 21: The State government is showing no signs of dropping Yettinahole project and irrigation minister M B Patil is giving all kinds of statements in the Assembly, said Former Union minister Janardhan Poojary.  He slammed both the congress government and BJP and alleged that all the political parties were doing a ‘drama’ over the matter.

Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here on Saturday November 21st, Poojary said, Yettinahole project is a threat to the coastal area. Media reports and activists who are against the project have stated that the National Green Tribunal has ordered a stay on the project, but the government claims the contrary. The project will not be beneficial to the dry districts of Kolar and Chikkaballapur or the border areas. The state government is passive and all political parties are doing drama, said Poojary.

In Kolar and Chikkaballapur, farmers, students and even doctors protested demanding permanent water solution. What has happened to the state government? Why is it trying to finish off the coastal region? he queried.

He slammed at the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and said, all BJP MPs in Karnataka along with union ministers from the state should meet only the Prime Minister and not any other minister and discuss about this issue. The PM is on a foreign tour. When he returns to India, the MPs and ministers should meet him and ask him to resolve this problem. The state government has failed in this matter and the union ministers are sleeping, he added.

Commenting on BJP motorcycle rally against the project, Poojary said it was rally to ‘promote motorcycle companies’ rather than to protest against the Yettinahole project.

On this occasion, Former mayor Mahabala Maarla, and T K Sudhir were present among others.
