MRI-CT scan facility will be made available soon in district hospitals: Health Minister UT Khader.

Mangaluru, November 18: As most of the hospitals in state are facing ventilator problems, it has been decided to provide ventilator facility in the ICU’s in all the District hospitals, informed Health Minister U T Khader.

Minister Kahder informed this in a press meet held at circuit house here on Tuesday, November 17th. Mainly, in the district hospitals in city areas, ventilators will be provided along with 6-10 bedded ICU’s. Presently in Ramanagar, Yadagiri and other district hospitals, there is no ICU facility. This facility is ready in Chikkaballapura and Kolar, which will be inaugurated shortly, he said.

By January at a total cost of Rs 22.37 crore, ICU facility will be provided in all the district hospitals. Later, this facility will be provided in taluk hospitals, he said. At Indira Gandhi children’s hospital in Bengaluru, at a cost of Rs 10.3 crores, 11 bedded ICU will be converted to 30 bedded ICU, he informed.

MRI-CT scan facility in district hospitals:

With an intension of providing MRI- CT scan facility to the poor patients at an affordable cost, with the partnership of HAL company, this facility will be provided. This will be begun soon at KC General Hospital in Bengaluru, informed Minister U T Khader on this occasion. Along with this various types of implants, phasemaker, and surgical instruments will also be provided by the company to the patients. Patients have to spend upto about Rs 8,000 for MRI and CT scan outside. Now, through this facility at a cost of Rs 3,500 MRI facility will be made available, he said.

By December 5th, in five district hospitals in the state, generic drug centres will be opened and within December 20th, this facility will be made available in five more hospitals. The department taking initiatives to extend this facility to rest of the 20 district hospitals within January 20th, and then to taluk hospitals, informed Minister UT Khader.
