Various programmes postponed as prohibitory orders get extended.

Mangaluru, November 14: The official programmes in the district that were scheduled to be held on November 14th and 15th  have been postponed, since prohibitory orders issued under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code remain extended till 10 pm on November 15th.

Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner, A B Ibrahim, said that the Children’s Festival that was scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday at Pilikula has been cancelled, after taking into account the unstable situation in the district. The programme, ‘Childline Se Dosti’ planned to be held by Childline Mangalore – 1098 from November 14th onwards at Pilikula Dr Shivaram Karanth Nisargadhama also has been postponed. Programmes scheduled to be held from November 16th to 20th will be organized as planned, stated a release.

BJP district unit in a release said that the ‘BJP Janasankalpa Yatre’ which it had planned to undertake from Subrahmanya to Kateel on Saturday has been temporarily postponed in view of the occurrence of untoward incidents and section 144 having been imposed across the district. The new date would be announced shortly, stated the release.

The motor bike rally that was scheduled to be held on behalf of ‘Sahyadri Sanchaya’ organization from Mangaluru to the project area at Yettinahole in protest against the Yettinahole drinking water project of state government has been postponed to November 22nd.
