Mangaluru, November 14: Four persons were arrested in relation to the stone pelting at a Mosque in Bunder in the city on Friday, November 13th. Bundh was called in the district by the VHP and Bhajrangdhal yesterday.
Directed by the higher authorities, the Bunder police led by inspector Shantaram, swung into action, and arrested four men by evening.
The arrested are namely Sushant, Gurukiran, Nithin Shetty, and Manju. Among the four, Nithin and Gurukiran are rowdy-sheeters, said the police sources.
According to the sources, four persons came in Scorpio car and pelted stones at Asasul Islam Masjid at Bunder in the city and escaped from the spot. A window pane of the mosque was damaged, while another stone hit a house closeby, it is said. As news spread, people gathered at the spot in huge numbers.
Police commissioner S Murugan rushed to the incident spot along with a police team and investigated.
Police have appealed to the people to remain calm and maintain peace.
