Mangaluru, November 9: A was protest organized by the district BJP near Dr B R Ambedkar statue opposite Town Hall here on Monday November 9th to condemn the deterioration of law and order in state and Dakshina Kannada district.
Addressing the protest Pratap Simha Nayak said, Dakshina Kannada district is turning violent day after day. Several anti-social activities are taking place in Mangaluru. People are living in anxiety and there is none to assure them. When Kabeer, a cattle trafficker was shot dead, the government representatives visited his house and gave Rs 10 lakhs to his family. Recently Prashanth Poojary was murdered in Moodbidri; he was involved in social service. But, till now the government has neither approached his family nor announced any compensation. Law and order has weakened in the district. People of DK district must raise their voices against the weak state government. The government which is keen to observe Tipu Jayanti today, might even observe Osama Bin Laden Jayanti tomorrow said DK district BJP president Pratap Simha Nayak.
From November 15th, a rally will be held to expose the weakness of Congress government, he said.
BJP leader Ravishankar Mijar said, state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should stop making false assurances. Yettinahole project is a major failure and Kolar district will not get any water from it. Even Dakshina Kanada district will go dry in future, he said.
Capt Ganesh Karnik, former minister Krishna J Palemar, Yogish Bhat, was also present among others.
