Mangaluru, September 1: The body of an aged man was found in a well in Murgekala at Moodukonaje village, Moodibidri on Tuesday September 1st.
Guruva (60) is the deceased person. Two of his relatives have been taken into custody for questioning.
Sources said, two days ago, Guruva and his wife Girija had quarrelled, post which Girija left the house and began to stay in Beluvai. From the last few months, Girija’s younger brother Sadananda and relative Babu had been staying in Guruva’s house. Daily after getting drunk, they used to fight, said the sources.
It is said that, on the night of Monday August 31st, the two who were drunk, again had a quarrel, after which they said they would go to the house of a person named Mudara Poojary, a local, and sleep there. It is said that they had a torch, stick and a bed sheet.
The neighbours who grew suspicious after noticing the torch and sticks informed this matter to local youths. It was then observed that Guruva had gone missing.
Moodbidri police arrived at the spot and investigated. Police searched till 2 am, but Guruva could not be seen anywhere. On Tuesday morning, when the locals came close to the well located in Guruva’s land, they found Guruva’s body in it.
Police took Babu and Sadananda into custody for questioning.
Moodbidri police have registered a case.
