Mangaluru, August 31: Police have arrested six members in connection to the deadly assault on Chandrashekar Ucchil, BJP president of Ullal constituency; which had taken place on the night of Friday.
The arrested are identified as Nazeer, Ruksan, Rafeeq, Taisar, Rameez, all residents of Manjanady and Fayaz, resident of Kinya.
It is learnt that on the night of Friday at around 10.30pm, six youths had arrived on a bike near the house located in Ucchil. Among the six, one had entered the compound of the house and knocked the door. At that time Chandrashekar Ucchil was not there in the house. When his brothers son, Rajesh Ucchil, president of Someshwar gram panchayat opened the door, the group abused him and went forward to attack using deadly weapons, it is gathered.
Rajesh who sensed the danger, immediately closed the door, phoned his friends and informed the matter. The neighbours on listening the shouts rushed at the spot. On seeing this, the attackers fled from the spot and moved towards Beeri. Friends of Rajesh Ucchil, stopped a bike near Beeri and caught hold of Ruksan while other two managed to escape. Ruksan was then handed over to the police.
The police later made Ruksan to call his friends and ask them to pick him up from near a building by the road side. After sometime, when the other accused arrived in a car to the spot, they were arrested.
Earlier too, two times murder attempt had taken place against Chandrashekar Ucchil over which still investigations are going on in the court. The accused meanwhile had tried for the closure of the case in compromise, but Chandrashekar Ucchil had not consented for it. It is suspected that for the same revenge, this team might have come prepared for his murder.
Ullal police have registered a case and investigations are on.
