Mangaluru : AICS (Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools of D.K and Udupi Districts) Inter School ‘LITERATI’ – JUNIOR COMPETITION – 2015 was inaugurated today at 9.30 am in St. Theresa’s School, Bendur, Mangalore. The School band gave the Guard of Honour to the dignitaries.
The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song led by the Theresian’s invoking God’s blessings on everyone gathered. The encouraging welcome words by Sr. Premitha, Principal of St. Theresa’s School, Bendur put everyone at ease and the students performed a welcome dance.
Shri A B Ibrahim, the Deputy Commissioner of the D.K was the chief guest. He said most of the schools should conduct English Programmes and wished well to the participants and appreciated the efforts of the school to conduct such a mega show.
Sr Rose Celine, the Secretaryof the Bethany Educational Society and the Correspondent of the school addressed the gathering and said they were proud to host AICS competitions and wished them success. Inauguration of the ‘Literati’ 2015 was done by Shri A.B . Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner D.K, by opening of the book which depicted the legend and the folklore of the pre-historic times. The competitions to be held were Elocution and Essay Writing individual Competition in English, Kannada and Hindi languages, Extempore, Spell Bee and Poetry out loud (English group recitation were also conducted).
Shri A B Ibrahim, the Deputy Commissioner, D.K, Sr Rose Celine, the Secretary of the Bethany Educational Society and the Correspondent of the school, Sr. Premitha, Principal and Mrs. Stella Roche, the Vice President PTA were the dignitaries on the dias.
At the end comperes proposed the vote of thanks and the school choir sang the school amthem. The inaugural programme was compered by the students Master Yanni Concessao and Victoria Pereira. Fourwinds Director E. Fernandes was also present in this Programme.
The competition began with an unbelievable participation of more than 500 students from 35 ICSE and CBSE schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
