Mangaluru, July 24: A decayed whale was washed to the seashore at Mogaveerapatna near Ullal on Friday, July 24th.

This fifteen feet long whale in decayed state was found on the shore in the early morning when Praveen Kotian, a member of the lifeguards’ association went to check the spot from where he heard dogs barking repeatedly.

Praveen passed information to the police, and Town municipal authorities who visited the place.

Town municipal officials, president and members also came to the spot where the whale was found.

The town municipality officials said that in the same place, a pit would be dug with the help of JCB and the whale would be buried there.

As the news spread, a huge crowd gathered at the spot.

The body parts of the whale were in decomposed state.

Some years ago a whale of a similar size was found near Someshwar beach. The members of lifeguards with the help of locals had pulled the whale by using a rope to transport it to Ullal, where it was buried. There is a great demand for the head of the whale as it is useful in medications. But the head of the whale which was found today was completely rotten, it is said.
