Combing to be intensified to curb ‘Naxalite activities’ in Udupi: TV Hegde.

Udupi, June 20: Taking advantage  of the monsoons, naxalite activities are increasing in the remote border villages of the Western Ghat sections in Udupi district said TV Hegde, district BJP president.

Addressing the media here on Friday, June 20th, he said, as it is monsoon, taking advantage of the season, the naxalites are said to be moving in remote villages. A team of naxalities were visiting the houses and demanding money from the rich villagers in the area. naxal activities were reported from Hebri, Kabinale and Nadpal villages.

He urged that the police increase combing operations and curb the naxal activities.

Speaking to the media, SP Ananmalai said, last month a naxalite camp in Chickamagaluru was raided. Later it was believed that the naxalites had moved to other areas.

He said, there were no information to the police about the naxal activities in the district. The Anti-Naxal force has intensified its operation as it always does during rainy season, he said.

Wide forest area falls under the Byndoor police jurisdiction, where is a shortage of staff. Additional staff will be deployed there soon, he said.
