Mangaluru, June 16: It is alleged that a woman was assaulted and tortured by a group of taxi drivers at Mangaluru International Airport in Bajpe, a complaint stands filed in women’s police station here.
Ramya (Name Changed) had arrived to the airport here by jet airways from Bengaluru. As her father in-law was in critical state, her family had arranged an ola taxi to pick her up from the airport here. When Ramya reached the ola taxi, the other taxi drivers who were in the airport stopped her from getting into the taxi. They tortured and threatened her as well as the ola driver. They even assaulted her, the complaint states.
Although this incident has taken place in front of the airport security, none came forward to help her, it is said.
The accused said that the outsiders should not run the taxi at the airport and began to assault the woman and the ola driver. Somehow, she had managed to escape from their hands. A rickshaw driver had rescued her and the ola driver, she stated.
Ramya has filed a complaint at the woman’s police station in Mangaluru. The police have registered a case based on the complaint and investigations are on.
