Tipper’s break failure at Melkar – Serial collisions, youth injured

Bantwal, June 4: A tipper which went berserk dashed to a two wheeler, bus shelter and electric feeder after the driver lost control of the vehicle due to break failure.

This incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, June 4th on the National Highway- 55 at Melkar Junction here.

The tipper laden with stones went out of control of the driver which has collided and damaged a Honda Activa vehicle, an electric feeder and bus shelter close by.

The rider of Honda Activa vehicle Shivananada (26), resident of Kamprabailu was seriously injured and has been admitted to a private hospital in BC Road.

Shivananda was employed in a petrol bunk in Melkar. He had stopped his vehicle by the road side near Birwa centre and was conversing on the phone. Meanwhile, the tipper laden with stones suffered break failure, went out of control of the driver and collided to Honda activa and later to an electric feeder. Later it collided to the bus shelter and turned turtle.

In the process, the heaps of stones from the lorry rolled over the legs of Shivananda.

The locals who saw this, immediately rushed to rescue Shivananda and removed him out from the heaps of stones and rushed him to the hospital.

The electric pole was also damaged due to the accident.

The Bantwal cops arrived to the spot and investigated.
