DK receives heavy showers: Lightning kills a woman at Savanoor .

Mangaluru, April 22: Parts of Dakshina Kannada received heavy showers along with strong lightning on the night of Tuesday, April 21st. As per reports, a young woman has expired due to lightning at Savanoor in Puttur taluk.

Mangaluru city was cloudy by evening, heavy showers were received along with thunder and lightning at around 8.25 pm. The surrounding areas of Mangaluru city such as Ullal, Konaje, Suratkal and Thokkotu also received heavy rain. Mangaluru had witnessed a rise in mercury since the past few days and yesterday 35 degree temperature was recorded.

Post the rain; the city appears clean, free from dust and also a cosy weather.

There was a forecast on thunder rain at coastal area of Kerala and Karnataka from meteorological department.

Due to the rain, there was a variation in power supply was reported from Mangaluru city, Ullal and Suratkal areas.

Puttur reports:

Puttur taluk has also received heavy showers and a woman at Avanoor in the taluk was killed after lightning struck her.

A young woman Rashida (29) wife of Bashir, resident of Bollai in Sajipamooda Village has expired after she was struck by lightning at Mantur near Savanoor.

As it was vacations for the children, two days ago deceased Rashida had arrived to her sister’s house Mantur. The deceased and Wife of Rafeek, are sisters.

It is learnt that, deceased Rashida was sitting inside the house while it was raining in the evening. Meanwhile, she was injured after lightning struck her. Immediately she was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Rashida is survived by husband, two sons and a daughter. Concerned to this a case has been lodged at Kadaba Police Station.

Autopsy of the deceased was conducted on Tuesday night at government hospital in Puttur under the supervision of Tahshildar of the taluk, M C Kullegowda.

MLA Shakunthala Shetty, Nellikatte Jagadish Shetty, Ansaruddin Jamaath Committee President Abdulla Haji, Abdurahaman Azad member of the hospital doctors association visited the hospital.

The rain which began at around 6.30 pm continued till 9 pm due to which there were variations in power supply at various places including the city.

Dharmasthala: Cattle expires after lightning strikes cattle shed

Belthangady: The entire taluk has received heavy showers on Tuesday evening. Lightning struck a cattle shed in Kanchimaru of Dharmasthala resulting in the death of cattle and injuring a person in a nearby house.

Around 5.30 in the evening, lightning struck the cattle shed. There were five to six cattle in the cattle shed among which one cattle has expired. The cattle shed is almost damaged.

A house close to this was also effected by lightning and a person Prabahkar(37) who was in the house suffered injuries on his back due to lightning. He is admitted to a hospital.

The entire taluk is receiving rain and thunder storms since two there days. On Tuesday, all areas have received showers. Due to thunder and lightning, the electricity and telephone lines are cut off.

Kadaba: Heavy thunder, rain

Kadaba: Kadaba and its surroundings also have received heavy showers along with thunder and strong breeze.  Surrounding areas Aalankaru, Aathuru, Kunthuru, Hosamta, Kodimbaala, Mardala, Sunkadakatte, Konaje areas suffered as the power and telephone lines were cut off due to rain.
