Bantwal, March 16: The dead body of Bantwal-origin IT consultant Prabha Arun Kumar (41) arrived to Mangaluru on Sunday March 15th at around 11.40 am. Prabha Arun Kumar was stabbed to death in Sydney, Australia, while she was on her way back to her residence after work there, on March 7th.
Prabha’s body was accompained by husband Arun Kumar, daughter Meghana and other family members. After the formalities, the body was handed over to the family.
Prabha’s mortal remains was taken by ambulance from Mangaluru airport to her hometown Amtoor near Kalladka here and was placed for public view at Nandagokula- Prabha’s parental residence. Friends, family members and well-wishers in hundreds paid their last respects to Prabha Arun Kumar. The last rites were held at around 5.30 pm, on Sunday.
Health minister U T Khadar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MLA Shakunthala Shetty, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, former minister Nagaraj Shetty, former MLA Rukmayya Poojary, Padmanabh Kottary paid last respects to Prabha and offered condolences to the family.
Head of MindTree Foundation Ibrahim Moses and administrative head Vijay Francis also expressed their condolences. Officials from MindTree Company for which she was working in Bengaluru and later in Australia, were also present.
Prabha’s teacher Emily D’Cunha who was in school said, she had taught Prabha in 6th and 7th standards at St Antony’s School in Amtoor and expressed that Prabha was a brilliant and disciplined student.
