Bhatkal, February 5: A sea turtle was caught in a fisherman’s net was rescued at Jali beach in Bhatkal.
The sea turtle got stuck in a fisherman’s net on January 31st. Immediately, information was passed to forest guard Subbayya Naik said CCF N L Shantkumar informing this to the media.
The turtle was rescued from the attack of stray dogs near the beach and kept it in a salt water tank in Subbayya Naik’s house. This turtle aged around 10-12 years, weighs about 10 kg. The turtle was freed to sea on the morning of Thursday February 5th.
Some school children enjoyed watching the turtle with curiosity along with the locals.
Gourish Padukone, an expert on sea turtles said, these kinds of turtles are normally found in the Atlantic Ocean.
