Mangalore,Feb.03: Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru, Department of P.G. Studies in Commerce organised a National level inter- collegiate fest “.com” for M.Com and MBA students.
Sri S. Kumar, the DGM of IT Division, Corporation Bank inaugurated the fest and in his inaugural speech, he spoke about the system and functioning of the online banking system and how different sectors like data warehouse, customer relations, management trading day to day backing is done through internet. He said that the cost of operation has come down drastically after the advent of internet banking; hence banks are showing more interest in it. Now the customers move around with banks in their pockets. E-commerce has made life easy and regarding e- governance he said, through Jan Dhan Yojana the 30% of rural population which was in active banking has now increased to 90 million that’s about 54.4% of rural population is given access to banking now.
Sri K. P. Kashyap AGM, Project Sankalp, HRM Division, Corporation Bank was the guest of honour. He spoke on the occasion saying ICT has made research in various fields very easy and interesting. Researcher could not find good reviews of literature earlier and also access to global respondents was not possible, whereas now researcher can have wider scope since one to one communication is possible to any part of the world. The PDF format is the boon to the researchers, yet there is a challenge for new generation. The internet is available only in English language, if this can be made available with regional languages its utility may grow manifold. The e-commerce has created thousands of allied jobs. In past five years it has grown 50% in retail sector and travel. Now online classifieds are making good progress. Separate laws, applicability of the sales laws have to be developed. He further said that the younger generation need to work out all these to ensure as to bring about deeper penetration.
Sri Shyam Sundar Kamath, the secretary of Women’s National Education Society presided over the function. Principal of Besant Women’s college Dr. Sudha K. welcomed the gathering. The . The valedictory Function was held on 30th January 2015 at 4:00pm. Prof. Pushpalatha B.K., former principal of Besant Women’s College was the chief guest. Sri Devanand Pai, correspondent presided over the function. Dean Faculty of Commerce and management Dr. Praveen K.C. welcomed the gathering. Principal of Besant Women’s college Dr. Sudha K, Director Dr. Balaji Bhovi, Student co-ordinators Fiona and Gururaj were on the dais.
