Mangaluru, November 24: A theft was reported to have taken place in Shilpa Jewellery at Kadri here during late night on Sunday, November 23rd. The incident came to light on Monday, November 24th morning.
The thieves first took entry into an adjacent saloon, and drilled a big hole into the wall erected between the jewellery shop and the saloon.
The thieves then broke open the safety locker that contained cash and gold in seven shelves.
As the burglars opened the first shelf of the locker using a gas cutter, the fuse blew off and paved a way continue their operation, said the owner of the jewellery store Narayana Achari.
However, the burglars have fled away with some quantity of gold. The police said that the exact value of the stolen gold could not be confirmed as the locker had got jammed because of the failed attempt.
Dog squad and finger print experts were brought to the spot. Mangaluru East police are investigating the case.
