‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award 2014’ will be conferred to Manasa Rehabilitation and training Centre.

Mangalore, October 28: This year the ‘Pingara Rajyotsava Award 2014’ will be conferred to Manasa Rehabilitation and training Centre.

Addressing the gathering, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino revealed that the centre has trained thousands of differently able children since the past 17 years.He was speaking at a press meet organised on Tuesday October 28th, at Hotel Woodlands, Mangalore.

He said, “Manasa Rehabilitation Centre is treating differently abled kids.Training is also given to them so that they become perfect in future. For instance some of them are tailors, mechanics and some them are working in photo studios and printing press.”

The children of the centre have exhibited their mettle in Olympics as they have won gold, silver and bronze in 2007 and 2013 Olympics. He also revealed that 160 students are being trained and have involved in co-curricular activities too.

On Tuesday November 11, the Pingara Rajyotsava Award 2014 presentation ceremony will be held at Don Bosco Hall.

Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, will present the award. The DK district Khazi, Minister Abhaychandra Jain, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza and Dr M Mohan Alva will be present for the programme. Valenica parish priest Fr James D’Souza will inaugurate the programme, he said.

“28 applications had come and we chose Manasa Rehabilitation Centre and they deserve the award,” said Roy Castelino, president of award selection committee.

The selection committee comprised of Harikrishna Punaroor, William Menezes, Rohan Monteiro, Dr B G Suvarna, Eliyas Fernandes, C G Pinto, Srikar Prabhu and Ramakrishna R.
