Being a girl – A synonym for being strong

When you grow up as a girl the world tells you the things you should be : emotional, loving, beautiful and when you are those things the world tells you that you are inferior , illogical, weak and vain. Being a girl is hard. It’s unimaginably painful.
A woman fosters and loves. She gives the gift of life. She bears all the relentless bellowing and torment. She stands tall even during storms and rainy days. She is a breath of fresh air. She is a sculptor, the one who shapes life.
Yet, the hardnosed call her weak.
A girl when young; expects so much from life. But when all her hope is shattered, she is left in despair. Now all she can do is dream of paradise.
We live in a country where the rich get richer and the poor, poorer. A country that has been developing for decades now. A country that is hypocritical. A country that promises to be impartial and provide justice to all but openly practices the contrary. I don’t intend to put down our country or blame it; every nation has its ebb and flow. All I want to know is why are our people against girls being independent? Why are they all turning a deaf ear to a girls cry for help and treating her like mere toy, an inanimate thing to play with? Girls are hawked upon by ruthless men, who are no worse than bestial predators.
A girl is not allowed to discover new roads and make trails of her own. She is not allowed to live her life the way she wants. She is always required to follow the beaten path and not stray away and be audacious She has to follow the rules without any question or qualm. She gets no say.
From the time a girl is born she is subjected to abuse. She has to always fight for attention and affection. Most girls live a troubled childhood with constant apprehension. They are called inferior from the very beginning and not allowed to taste different delicacies that life provides.
We have entered the 21st century. An era of speeding technology and transport. The human mind has developed a sensitive spot for machinery and scientific know-how. But on the road to development it has lost the ability to heed and has lost its benevolence.
Our nation doesn’t need better politicians or a fast growing economy. What it needs are more soldiers. Not the ones to fight wars or defend the country but soldiers, real men who know how to revere women. It needs better citizens with a better mindset.
A girl is a bundle of surprises, joy, happiness, charm, liveliness and all the good adjectives found in the dictionary. She deserves the good life too, because beneath the tough exterior and the pretty face lies a distressed soul wracked with pain and broken into fragments. She needs to be given a chance. A chance to live her life the way she desires, a chance to discover herself and break free and not be a part of someone else’s shadow. Girls are the ones who can cry themselves to sleep each night and wake up the next day with a bright smile on their faces. They need to be treated better and not like smudges that ruin a picture or a condemned piece of prop. They are not part of the backdrop; they are the imperative portrait, a part of something bigger than life itself.
Girls are not scrawny. They are just a mess, a mess of gorgeous chaos. They are poor little angels waiting for a happy ending. They are synonyms for potency and valor. They are the ones with the prettiest smiles but the saddest stories.
