Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to rope in with private companies to maintain public properties

BANGALORE: Soon a meeting will be organized with IT-BT and other companies, to persuade them to take part in maintenance of playgrounds, schools and other properties which come under the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), said BS Sathyanarayana, city mayor here on Thursday.

The mayor was speaking during an interaction programme with Federation of Karnataka of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).

The Palike will sign a memorandum of understanding with private companies to develop public places like schools and parks, said the mayor. Soon a meeting with NGOs will be organized to discuss about development of lakes, he disclosed.
Urging the private organizations to help BBMP in developing the roads, he said “Ashok Kheny, MLA of Bidar (South) has come forward to improve one of the major road in Shankarapuram.”

Coming down heavily on BBMP officers, he said officers are cheating in collecting the trade license fee, so we are planning to outsource collection of trade license fees to private contractors.

While talking about KR Market, he said plans to develop multimedia centre on the second floor of KR Market is underway. Theatre personality Prakash Belwadi and architech Naresh Venkataramanare designing the model, he added.

Sathyanarayana said mayor there is a need for amendment in Akrama-Sakrama scheme as it is not feasible.
