Mangalore, May-2: It has been reported that a woman has been arrested by Bantwal police on May1, Wednesday in connection with chain snatching.
The arrested woman has been recognized as Shakuntala, resident of Neermarga, near Mangalore and recovered 51 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs.1.40 lakh.
The modus operandi of her snatching was she used to go to marriages and other programmes where there are huge crowd and targets small children.
Though there were four cases against her in Bantwal station, she was absconding till date. However based on tip-off, the police arrested her from a hotel located at B C Road. She was confessed to the crime.
Bantwal Police registered a case against her and investigation is on.
