Mangalore, July 25: The 18th edition of ‘Independence Football Cup 2014’ will be held at Nehru Maidan, Mangalore, from July 30. The tournament is organized under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada District Football Association (DKDFA).
D M Aslam, President of DKDFA informed that Mahabala Maarla, Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation, will inaugurate the tournament at 10am.
“The tournament is divided into seven categories namely, Primary School Boys, Primary School Girls, High School Boys, High School Girls, PU Boys and UG Boys and UG Girls. Winners will be awarded with trophies and cash prizes,” he said.
Aslam also informed that, “224 teams have already registered for the 17 day long tournament that will conclude on August 15.”
Vijay Suvarna, Member, State Football Association, Hussain Bolar, Secretary and Anil P V, Treasurer, were present at the press meet.
