Karkala, July 25: Karkala Police have arrested a notorious thief wanted in connection with several theft cases. Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1.40 lakh and cash of Rs 3,100 were seized from the accused.
Mohammad Iqbal alias Iqa (43) is the arrested person. He is a resident of Modamkapu in Bantwal Taluk hailing from Karkala Banglagudde.
Police sources said that Iqbal had robbed 9 soreign gold from a house at Farangipet on May 2013. He had also robbed gold ornaments and silver articles from houses located in Banglegudde.
The arrest was made by the team led by Annamalai, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Karkala under the directions of District Superintendent of Police. The team included officials namely G.M.Naikar, Circle Inspector, Kabbal Raj H.B, Sub Inspector, Urban Police Station, Umesh, Shivanand, Dinesh, Gunapala and Narasimha.
