Only 101 Govt. residential houses are habitable out of 421 houses in Mangalore

Mangalore, July 23: “All of the Govt. residential houses located in various places of Mangalore are not meant for living. Only 101 Govt. residential houses are habitable out of 421 houses in Mangalore. The unfit houses will be demolished and rebuilt with a total budget of 90 crores,” said Minister H.C. Mahadevappa in Legislative Council affirmation.

Legislative Council member Ivan D’Souza speaking on the issue said that, “the houses have been built 60 years ago, now it is not fit for living. There has been a rumour that these haunted places and there are illegal activities going on here. These old houses should be demolished and govt. flats should be built. There are 11000 govt. employees working in Mangalore, the flats should be provided to these employees.”

Replying to this, the minister said that the houses will be made habitable very soon.
