Mangalore, July 23: Cyril Gregory Sequiera, popularly CGS Taccode, will be honoured with Konkani Kutam Award 2014. He is well known Konkani writer particularly humor. Starting his writing career at the tender age of twelve, he wrote various articles and books but he is known more for contribution in humour writing.
‘KONKANI KUTAM’ Bahrain is a voluntary forum formed in the year 2000 for promoting Konkani language, literature and culture. In its attempt to support Konkanki Writers & Artists, Konkani Kutam has introduced ‘KONKANI KUTAM AWARD’ in 2002. The award consists of a citation, memento and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
The award is conferred by analyzing and evaluating the significant contribution to the Konkani cause. The Executive Committee has selected Shri Cyril G. Sequeira, popularly known as ‘CGS Taccode’ for his immense contribution for the cause of Konkani language and literature.
The award will be presented in a glittering ceremony which will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 6.30p.m., at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendore and Mangalore. Goa Konkani Academy President Shri Pundalik Naik will be presiding over the function, eminent columnist Dr Narendra Rai Derla will be the chief guest and Shri Edwin Netto, renowned Konkani writer will be the guest of honour.
Local Convener Richard Moras, committee members Melwyn Rodrigues, Vitori Karkal, Joe Coelho and Manu Bahrain were present at the press meet.

CGS Taccode’s humour writings have satire, caution and reflection of society in ample measure. His humour columns- Fugetyo, Fokannam, his books Grahachaar, Sursuryo, Kuchilyo, Maskiryo, Chirmulyo, Hai Hai Dubai, Bullbulle, Sullsulle, Thambde Gulle have entertained Konkani readers.
Cyril also worked as editor of Konkani magazines- Kannik, Umallo and as Sub editor of Raknno. Mary Magdel, Chaar Disancho Sansar, Haschengi Rodchem, Badyachi Baail, Pitull, Eklem Ekchurem, Girgi Mirsang, Diana are some of plays written by him. He is also known for poetry and translations. His work as organizer and compere is also well known.
His short story collection Dukaam and play – Pitull, have won recognition from Goa Bhasha Mandal. Daiji Dubai Award, Sandesha Award, Konkani Academy Book Award are some of the prestigious awards he received among others.
