Mangalore, July 21: The release of water from a nearby dam coupled with heavy rains that lashed the district on Saturday July 19, has caused flood in and around the areas of Moodushedde.
The locals said that the Phalguni River was already flowing above the danger mark due to rains over the past few days. In addition to this, a nearby dam released water on Saturday evening without any warning to the locals. As a result, several fields were submerged in water.
Though no casualties or injuries were reported, a heavy loss has been suffered due to damage to crops.
