Mangalore, May 21: Two persons have been arrested and more than Rs 5 lakh cash was seized in an operation for gambling on IPL cricket matches.
On receiving a reliable tip-off, city crime branch and Barke police conducted the raid on the premises of a private financing firm located in a high-end shopping mall on M G Road on Tuesday. The Raids were conducted by the leadership of DCP for law and order Dr K V Jagadish, CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza and Barke sub inspector K M Shareef.
The firm that was involvedin betting was run by Vijay Kumar and Kishore Kumar, they indulged in betting ring operating under its banner during the cricket season. A woman employee was found recording details of those who staked their bets. During the raid, this woman had admitted to the betting operation and handed over the details to police officers.
A serious trouble might be on its way for many people who may have taken part in this illegal betting.
