Mangalore, May 3: A three-year-old girl was found dead in a drain near Pumpwell in mysterious circumstances on May 3, Saturday morning.
The deceased child is identified as Srinidhi (3), a daughter of Lokesh and Veda Poojary hailing from Hassan. Veda is said to be working as a warden of a hostel near Pumpwell, while Lokesh is works and resides in Hassan.
Reportedly, the child was spotted playing near the house, where a drain is being constructed on Friday May 2 night. But as she went missing, Srinidhi’s mother and local went in search of her and not found her; they filed a missing complaint at Mangalore rural police station.
But in the morning on May 3, Saturday, the body of child was found in a drain at a little distance away. Although it seems that child might have fallen in drain while playing, the mother suspects other reason, since she was found in a drain at distance which is not connected.
Mangalore rural police and corporator Asha D’Silva reached the spot.
The body of the child was taken for post-mortem to a hospital.
