Mulki, April 29: The much debated Aadhar issue might come to an end. Most of the registering centers in Mulki and 5 other places in Dakshina Kannada have closed.

The Government had handed over the task of registrations to a Hyderabad based contractor namely Mars Telecom System enterprises. The registration for Aadhar card is due to come to an end on April 30th.

These centers have been in operation since December 15th 2012 and more than 20 lakh people have got themselves registered. A few months back the Supreme Court made a noteworthy judgement which lead to an almost total stoppage of new registrations.

In addition to this, the elections were also announced and the number of people coming forth for registration was very low. Since less people are interested in registering for Aadhar the contractors, Mars, has decided to stop the work on April 30th. The Aadhar work which was going on in Bantwal, Puttur, Belthangady, Moodoobidre, Surathkal and Mulki was closed on Friday, said a revenue department officer.

All centers which had linked up computers, cameras, scanners and other gadgetry have been delinked starting Sunday. On Tuesday April 29 there will be a CEG conference in Bangalore with regards to these contractors, the conference will make an important announcement regarding further steps.
