ANF trooper booked under murder case in Kabeer case

Mangalore, Apr 24: The state government has booked murder case against the ANF trooper, who had gunned down cattle trader Kabeer near Sringeri check post, five days ago.

Although the identity of ANF police is not yet revealed, he has been booked under sections 302 (murder), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class) of the Indian Penal Code.

It is learnt that, Kabeer along with four others was transporting cattle from Teerthahalli to Mangalore on April 19, when he was gunned down by the ANF personnel, who did not stop their vehicle, when order by them near Sringeri check post. The police opened fire at Kabeer, arrested two and two others managed to escape.

It is also revealed that after the incident, the group belonging to Bajrang Dal had also assaulted Kabeer’s family, when they went to receive his body.

The state government has enhanced the compensation amount of Rs 10 lakh to Kabeer’s family as compensation and also ordered CID probe into the case.
