Mangalore, Mar 17: B. Janardhan Poojary, Senior Congress leader and DK Congress MP Candidate announced, “There will not be any increase in self assessment property tax under Mangalore City Corporation limits.”
Speaking to the media at the press meet held at the party office on Monday, Poojari said that, Mayor and 25 MCC members from congress have objected and submitted a letter to the Administrator against his decision of increasing the tax up to 15%.
The decision to increase the tax is taken without consulting the MCC members, this is not acceptable, if the order is not taken back, all the MCC members of congress will resign, said Poojari in the presence of Mayor and other members.
BJP had announced the same but they increased the tax later and thus failed in keeping up their words, but Congress is committed to what has been told and we are not letting the tax increase, added Poojari.
Party Leaders namely, Kodijal Ibrahim, Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Harikrishna Bantwala and others were present at the press meet.
