Manipal; Jan 23: In the UI green metric world university rankings, Manipal University took its position to the highest level. The University, which had secured 35th position in the last ranking system, has jumped to 27 th position in this year’s ranking system.
According to Manipal University’s announcement, with this ranking, Manipal has consolidated its position further as green university in the ranking.
Derrick Iyan Josuva, University environment administrator said in his address that in the world University rankings published on Jan 17, Manipal University has improved by 8 places and with this, eco-friendly projects will be continued by forming a relationship with cleanliness atmosphere of the earth.
This year 301 Universities of 61 nations have participated in the survey, whereas last year 215 universities of 49 nations participated. University of California was recognized as the world’s No.1 Green University and followed by Britain’s Bath University in the second place.
Malaysia’s Putra University, Britain’s Byangar University and Spain’s Madrid University secured, third, fourth and fifth places respectively. America,Japan,Britain and apart from European countries,Slovenia,Russia,Taiwan,Turkey,Iran,Jordan,Panama and Pakistan Universities have participated in the survey.
Rankings have been awarded on the basis of how eco-friendly projects have been adopted in the university campus. After reviewing infrastructure, climate change and energy, waste management, minimum water consumption, transportation and education, ranking will be awarded, release said.
