Mangalore, Jan 22: MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik said that BJP condemn the move of state government to lay the foundation for the Yettinahole Project.
Speaking at the press meet held at District BJP office on Jan 21, Tuesday, Karnik said that the state government has decided to lay the foundation, even though it has not received a green signal from Union Environment Ministry, Forest Department, Railway Department and Highway Department.
He also said that the tender process of the project is not complete and the government’s move to go forward with this technically unfeasible project is just with the intention of upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Karnik criticized state government for not solving the water problem in the coastal region and working on river diversion project to feed the water starved districts.
The issue of river diversion project, he said that he would raise the matter in the State Assembly session which begins on January 22 and also highlight the need to find alternate ways to solve the problems rather than going for such anti region project.
There is trick use the Yettinahole water for industrial purposes with the intention to use Karnataka Irrigation Corporation which has asked permission from the government to use 1.00 TMC water for Devanahalli Industrial area in Bangalore rural district.
