MANGALORE: Dakshina Kannada district administration led by deputy commissioner Harsh Gupta on Sunday paid homage to architect of Indian Constitution BR Ambedkar here on the occasion of AmbedkarJayanthi. Harsh Gupta garlanded the statute of Ambedkar on the Town Hall premises here in a strictly official affair sans elected representatives. The celebration was a simple affair given that the model code of conduct is in force in view of the elections to the state assembly on May 5.
City police chief Manish Kharbikar, Superintendent of police Abhishek Goyal, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer K N Vijayaprakash, MUDA commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, deputy commissioner of police (law and order) M Muthuraya, Mangalore City Corporation commissioner K Harish Kumar, district social welfare officer Arun Furtado too were among the senior district administration officials who paid floral tributes to Ambedkar on this occasion.
