Mangalore, Dec 21: The Konaje police on Dec 21, Saturday, have arrested eight person in connection to the kidnap, rape and blackmail of Medical College Students.

The arrested are identified as Sameer, Arif, Samshuddin, Ravoof, Navaz, Arshad and Nisar, all are the residents of Derlakatte.

It is recalled that the two students from Kshema Medical College hailing from Kerala and Bihar were kidnapped in their own car two days ago. The group had raped the girls and  obscene the photo was taken.

Later the accused blackmailed the students to pay the amount of Rs 30,000 and threatened to leak the photos on the social networking site.

The Konaje police had registered the case and investigation is on.

Mangalore, Dec 22, 2013: Mangalore Police have cracked a case wherein a group of youth which kidnapped two medical students of a college near Konaje and   then blackmailed them for money after taking their obscene photos and videos.

Mangalore City Police Commissioner R Hithendra  who spoke to media on December 21, Saturday, informed that a total of eight  persons have been arrested in this connection on the basis of the information gathered from the victim students. The arrests were made from a house at Katipalla on Saturday.

The Police Commissioner informed that a male student of Kerala origin and a female student of Bihar origin were kidnapped by a six member gang on December 18 at around 11 pm when they were sitting in their car outside the Meeting Point Bar and Restaurant. The students were then taken blindfolded in a car to a house where they were forced to pose for photographs  in compromising positions.  Later, the kidnappers had blackmailed them for money saying they would release the photographs and videos on the internet and on social networking sites and also send them to their parents. It is learnt, they had demanded Rs 25 lakhs.

They then released the girl on December 20 asking her to get the cash as the students promised to pay Rs 3 lakhs.The kidnappers had also warned her not to divulge the matter,. However, she lodged a complaint with the Konaje police through an advocate.

The police then swung into action and arrested the accussed The police also seized a car, mobile phones, the video clip and weapons from the accused.

DCP (law and order) Dr K V Jagadish who is investigating the case and DCP (crime) Dharmaiah were present at the press meet.

ACP South Pavan Nejoor, inspector Dharmendra, PSI Sudhakar, PSI Ramesh Hanapur, PSI Sathish, PSI, Shyamsunder, SI Sundar Acharya, and other police personnel were part of the operation

Those arrested are Nisar (18) of Manjanady, Harshad (28), Sharfan Hussain (21) of Deralakatte. Shamsuddin (23) of Suratkal, Shameer (21), Iqbal (23), Rauf (22) of Deralakatte and Nawaz (28) of Mudipu,. All of them have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody fir three days. The names of the accused were however not disclosed by the Police Commissioner but are  gathered from reliable sources.

  1. the ministers of this region should not support this criminals. As i knw(hav strong proof-get the report from police station) one of the minister forced police to not commite rape case against these terrorist. There are lot f terrorist activities going on in these region, but v police r powerless under ministers. I request these minister rather than looking at vote bank treat every1 the same, nd hang these criminal+ hang d 1more criminal from kuttar region who played with lot of girls life.
