Karkala: Dec 18: Addressing the press reporters in press meet held in Indira Bhavan ex-MLA H.Gopal Bhandary alleged in his address that keeping in mind, the coming Loka Sabha election, it is a clear cut understanding between BJP and Areca nut traders to create turmoil, confusion among areca nut growers and public about ban on areca nut, which is politically motivated and conspiracy.
He questioned, when union government has not yet submitted any testimony in this regard to Supreme Court, from where and how this confusion has originated? With this kind of political propaganda, there might be a possibility of collapsing areca nut trading in the market, he opined. He further sarcastically said that during any level of elections, BJP will create new type of controversies and create confusion among people for its political mileage.
Continuing his address he said that with regard to Gutka ban, Gutka companies have submitted their applications to Supreme Court. Supreme Court has suggested the union government to submit informations in this regard. No certificate has been submitted except that informations.No where central government has mentioned about the ban on areca nut.When the central government’s political opponents are hurling this kind of allegations, accusations, how the letter to the Supreme Court banning areca nut can be revealed? he challenged.
