Kundapur; Dec 18: The arrested five people accused in asianet cameraman Shyam Kumar’s attempted robbery case have been taken under judicial custody until Dec 30 by the Kundapur court.Police have sent them to Hiriadka jail.
Mangalore Vamanjoor Muhammad Rizwan (25), Faizal (20), Muhammadali Shaanvarah (20), Saifu alias saifuddin (19), Harshit Shetty (20) were arrested on Dec 16, Monday by the Kundapur police in the early hours of morning at around 2.30 am. Police have recovered Swift car, sword, sabre, iron rod, knife from them.
It was when Shyam Kumar, a resident of Thiruvananthapura in Kerala state, asianet cameraman along with his friend and his family were going to Kollur temple in his Santro car on Dec 16,Monday at around 2.30 am in the early hours of morning at Idur on Kollur state highway,a group tried to waylaid them and damaged the car.
But Shyam Kumar with his presence of mind, in order to escape from the robbers, took his car ahead of them and drove fast towards Kollur police station and informed them about the matter.Meantime, robbers, sensing the danger tried to flee from the spot and in the process their car met with an accident and toppled down. The police who were on night patrol spotted the car and accused were arrested.
