Kundapur; Nov 20: Cases of boundless deaths of fishes was reported in Koteshwara’s Shree Kotilingeshwara temple’s Kotitheertha artificial tank (God’s fishes).The number of fishes died from Monday afternoon to Tuesday was over 150.
It was reported that even on Wednesday death of the fishes was continuing. More than 35 fishes reportedly died even on Wednesday. Out of these, more than 5 fishes were weighing 7-8kgs and remaining were weighing 1-2 kg.So far more than 200 fishes have been died.
Sources said that at the time of Kodi Habba’s “Suttakki” celebration, devotees who threw rice around the artificial tank, might have fallen into the tank in huge quantiy.The fishes those ate rice abundantly succumb to death, it said.
Under the leadership of Prabhakar Shetty, temple’s organizing committee president, Koteshwara village panchayat president Rajashekara Shetty, development officer Tejappa Kulal, grama panchayat co-ordinator Satyanarayana, dead fishes have been buried.
