Mangalore, Nov 5: The members of Rama Sene with the initiation of the chief of Sene Prasad Attavar staged a protest at Bejjai KSRTC bus stand against the government bus service for price hike during the festive season, on Monday night November 4.
During the festive seasons like Diwali, Christmas KSRTC introduces more buses to Mangalore – Bangalore and other main routes to make more income. For that reason it charges 25 percent more or sometimes even double of normal rates.
The protestors started their demonstration inside the bus stand. Then the Barke Police interfere and send them out.
Addressing the media, Prasad Attavar said that KSRTC is a government enterprise. It is to serve the people and to be in favour of public. But increasing bus charge is during festive season is not fare he added.
He further said on receiving several complaints from the public, Rama Sene decided to act. So we have staged this protest. If the KSRTC continues to charge more in future also, we will exaggerate our protest, he warned.
A memorandum was also submitted to KSRTC urging not to increase the fares during festive season.
